Iranian director wins Creativity Award in Poland

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – Iranian director Zahra Sabri received the Creativity Award at the 10th International Festival of Puppet Theater and Animated Films for Adults, Poland.

Sabri, who won the award for her creativity in staging the puppet show Count to One, said that her play is inspired by noted Persian poet Khayyam.

Talking about the festival she said: “The festival is held as a competition, unlike many other international puppet theatres and is attended by different troupes from around the world. The Polish festival presents honorable mentions and cash to the best creativity, actor and director.”

Sabri, a member of the Iranian puppetry troupe Yas-e Tamam added that every play had a performance during the event. Groups from Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Jordan, Poland, Russia, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Portugal ,Spain, and Slovakia competed in the event, and the creativity award was presented to me.

Count to One also bagged the Warsaw theater students’ award for the play’s 'mother scene'.

The Iranian play is about three soldiers who decide to cease fighting in an unknown land. To express themselves, they begin making clay sculptures.

The International Festival of Puppet Theater and Animated Films for Adults, with the motto of 'A Puppet Is a Human Too', was held from October 12-20.
